Undergraduate art show runs through Friday

McDaniel College is holding the Kathryn E. Wentz Undergraduate Student Art Show in Rice Gallery in Peterson Hall through Friday.

This inaugural showcase for student work features a variety of painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry and other media by freshmen, sophomores and juniors.

McDaniel College offers free spring concerts

McDaniel College will present free spring concerts on the campus.

The McDaniel Brass will perform music from the 17th to the 20th centuries at 7 p.m. tomorrow in (Little) Baker Chapel.

The Madrigal Singers will present "An Evening of Madrigals" at 7 p.m. Tuesday in (Big) Baker Chapel. Renaissance love songs in multiple languages will be featured.

The Jazz, Classical, Piano Playing Women and College Guitar Ensembles will perform a variety of works at 7 p.m. Wednesday in (Big) Baker Chapel.

The Student Clarinet and Saxophone Ensembles will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday in (Little) Baker Chapel.

A Music Theatre/Opera Workshop, with five students, a director and accompanist, will be held at 7 p.m. May 1 in the WMC Alumni Hall Dorothy Elderdice Studio Theatre.

`The Trial of Goldilocks' is set for next weekend

The Carroll Players will present The Trial of Goldilocks, a fairy tale fantasy by Joseph Robinette, at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. May 1.

The show is directed by ML Gout. The cast includes Autumn Nicole Hancock as Goldilocks, Marcia Bogash, Chris Vance, Andrea Roskam, Denise McCoy, Pat Fiore, Amanda Stoner, Samantha Intine, Jenna Barron, Alexis Harrell, Claudia Bogash and Kaitlyn Bogash.

Tickets are $8, available at the Carroll Arts Center and area businesses.

Doo-wop favorites to be sung by barbershop chorus

The Old Line Statesmen Barbershop Chorus will travel back to the 1950s and early 1960s for a concert of doo-wop at its annual spring show at 3 p.m. May 1 in the Scott Center at Carroll Community College, 1601 Washington Road, Westminster.

Under director Shannon Kiser, the group will offer doo-wop favorites in four- and five-part a cappella harmonies, including Little Darlene, Duke of Earl and Stand by Me.

Featured quartets will include All in Accord and Gentlemen's Blend, both with members from Carroll County. George Matysek and Tina DeMell of Lindy Hoppers Unlimited LLC will show off their dancing talent.

Tickets are $10. Children age 6 and younger are free. Tickets are available at Coffey Music, Stu's Music, the Carroll Arts Center and at the door.
