Jane G. Fitzgerald, 79, savings and loan controller
Jane G. Fitzgerald, a retired controller of a Southwest Baltimore savings and loan association, died of cancer Tuesday at the Hospice House of Ellenton in Palmetto, Fla. The former Violetville resident was 79.
Born Jane Gray in Cleveland, she was raised in West Virginia and North Carolina, and moved to Violetville's Rockhill Avenue about 1950. She earned an associate of arts degree from what was then Catonsville Community College.
She worked for more than three decades at local banks and retired from Leeds Federal Savings and Loan Association as its controller.
In 1990, she moved to Holmes Beach, Fla., and enjoyed painting tiles, which she sold through the Island Gallery West.
Her husband of more than 30 years, Richard Joseph Fitzgerald, a retired Social Security administrator, died in 1981.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today in Holmes Beach.
Survivors include four sons, James G. Fitzgerald and Richard Fitzgerald, both of Columbia, Thomas Fitzgerald of Pensacola, Fla., and John Patrick Fitzgerald of Baltimore; a daughter, Jennifer Coburn of Bradenton, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
