Free seeds, seedlings

Free seeds and seedlings will be distributed at Waverly Market on Saturday. The seedlings will eventually become pine trees with the requisite time and care. Green bean and sunflower seeds also will be handed out.

The giveaway is part of Urban Earth Day. Call 410-243- 8882. Seed distribution will take place from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday. The Waverly Farmers' Market is at the 400 block of E. 32nd St.

Pork in the Park

The aroma of grilled meat will permeate the air in Salisbury on Friday and Saturday when the Pork in the Park Festival gears up at Winterplace Park. Men and women with destroyer-class grills travel from all over the country to compete in a barbecue contest there. Local bands and DJs will play. Nongrillers can wander the festival and sample slow-cooked meats prepared by the contestants.

Bay Bridge Boat Show

The Bay Bridge Boat Show opens today in Stevenson. Prospective boat owners can inspect about 300 in-water power boats (from 30 feet to 70 feet) and about 200 on-land craft (smaller boats with trailers.) Most boats are privately owned and ready for use. Vendors selling life jackets, global positioning system equipment and other nautical accoutrements will be there, too.

Boat show hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. today, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. tomorrow-Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday . The Bay Bridge Marina is on Pier One Road in Stevensville. Call 410-268-8828 or visit Admission is $12 for adults, $6 for children.
