LESTER KNIFFEN FERO, 86, of Loudon, TN, departed this life in his home, April 15, 2005. He was a trustee of the Board of the Tellico Community Church. Preceded in death by his parents Ray and Bertha (Kniffen) Fero, his sister Frances Johnson, his wife Margery Geraldine Fero and their son, Gregory Glen Fero. He is survived by his wife Irene Trent Fero, and his daughter Leslie K. Fero. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Mark and Cindy Fero, Eric Bjerk, Shannon Fero Jason and Angie Bjerk and Jennifer and Jayson Crandall, and by his stepdaughters Patti Wilde and Jennifer Morgan and her husband David. Mr. Fero is also survived by his sisters Wilma Johnson, Alice Stoll, and Shirley (John) Stanton; and his brother George (Vonda) Fero. Lester graduated from the University of Michigan and retired from NASA headquarters in Washington DC, having served with the Executive Office of the President, and spent his lifetime pursuing his passion for aviation, aerospace design, and manned space travel. In recognition of his contribution to national aviation and space exploration, his name was added to Wall of Honor in the National Air and Space Museum. A memorial service to celebrate his life is being held at Tellico Community Church on Monday, April 18 at 1:00 P.M.
