Burning bridges on April 19, 1861

On April 19, 1861, Baltimore citizens burned the Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Railroad bridges across the Bush and Gunpowder rivers in Harford County to prevent the arrival of more Union troops in the city, where the 6th Massachusetts Regiment was attacked that day by rioters as it was en route to Washington.
