Thanks for Sun's coverage of Maryland Hall events

Congratulations to The Sun on their new format. The Anne Arundel section does a fine job focusing on community news. The pictorial features, with aspects of life in and around Annapolis, are my favorite. The photographs add rich dimension to each story.

I particularly enjoyed Jamie Stiehm's recent article on the Maryland Hall woodturning class and their teacher, Joe Dickey.

Several months ago, the City of Annapolis reluctantly removed several dying trees from Historic District streets. The trunks were taken to Back Creek Nature Park, where they were harvested by members of the woodturners' co-op.

It is no small consolation knowing these old friends will find new life as works of art fashioned at Maryland Hall.

Thank you for giving your readers a peek at the wonderful resources we have in Maryland Hall, and the opportunities for students of all ages to learn and enjoy visual and performing arts.

I look forward to more of your stories about our dynamic community.

Ellen O. Moyer

Annapolis mayor
