Parental liability at parties to be discussed

HC DrugFree, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping teens avoid alcohol and other drugs, will sponsor a program on "Parents' Liability for Underage Drinking and Parties" from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Hebron High School.

Discussion will cover criminal and civil liabilities, whether parents are at home or not when the drinking occurs. Attorneys Stephen Bounds and Richard Bernhardt will speak.

Senior center to offer `Jazzy Lunch' on Tuesday

The Ellicott City Senior Center will offer a "Jazzy Lunch," featuring music by the Mount View Middle School Jazz Band, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Registration is required. A donation of $2.50 is suggested.

The center will hold its three-day Spring Craft Show, featuring Jennifer's Crafts and gifts and crafts by more than 50 artisans, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through April 24. Admission is free.

The show, sponsored by the Senior Council, will help support the center's activities.

Firefighters to hold basket bingo Saturday

The Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department will hold a basket bingo Saturday.

Doors open at 6 p.m.; games start at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets, which are $15 in advance and $18 at the door, include 20 games and door prizes.

Children are welcome but must pay admission.

St. Augustine School's Spring Fling is Saturday

St. Augustine School in Elkridge will hold its Spring Fling from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

This year's event has a western theme, with pony rides and games, crafts, food, a bake sale and a high-tech toy raffle.

Admission is free. There will be a charge for some activities and games.

Barbershop chorus sets concert, dinner today

The Heart of Maryland Barbershop Chorus is holding a Lasagna and Barbershop Concert today at the Ellicott City Elks Lodge. Doors are to open at 4:30 p.m. and dinner is scheduled at 5 p.m.

The group will perform music from Broadway and classic favorites. Tickets are $18 for adults; $10 for children to age 13.

The Miller branch library, 9421 Frederick Road, Ellicott City, is offering drop-in question-and-answer sessions with master gardeners from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mondays and 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays, through Sept. 30. The Miller branch library, 9421 Frederick Road, Ellicott City, offers an English Conversation Club from 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Mondays. The club is intended for adults and teenagers who speak English as a second or third language and who want to practice in a group setting. Vikings race:

Registration is open for the 13th Mount Hebron Viking Backers' Viking 5K race and 1-mile Fun Run, to start at 9 a.m. April 24. The event, which is open to everyone, will start at Mount Hebron High School and continue through the Ellicott City neighborhood. Packet pickup and late registration will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. on race day. Advance registration is $17 for the 5K; $12 for the fun run. A $3 surcharge will be applied to registration at the gate. Proceeds will help support extracurricular activities at the school. Spring fair:

Mount Hebron Nursery School's parent board invites the community to its 21st Spring Fair, to be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 30, rain or shine, at Mount Hebron Presbyterian Church, 2330 Mount Hebron Drive, off Route 99, in Ellicott City.
