Nicholas Wasylczuk, 80, of Chesapeake City, MD, died April 14, 2005, in Union Hospital, Elkton, MD. Born the late Paul and Lena Wasylczuk. Nicholas was a painting contractor and member of Local Union 923. He was a decorated Veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army where he served in the European African Middle Eastern Theatre. He was a member of the VFW Chesapeake City, MD, Knights of Columbus where he participated in their charitable event fund raisers. He was dedicated parishioner of St. Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Church where he devoted time and energy in helping to maintain the upkeep of the church property and supported church functions. He was an avid gardener. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anna B. Wasylczuk of Chesapeake City, MD; also survived by five children: Katheryn Anna Mathes of Waldorf, MD, Nicholas G. Wasylczuk of Accokeek, MD, Michael P. Wasylczuk of Arlington, VA, James P. Wasylczuk of Chesapeake City, MD and Mary Lynn Lindemann of Chelsea, MI, one sister: Anne Smith of Alderson, W. Va, three grandchildren: Justin Wasylczuk, Michael Mathes and Nikolas Jonkman. He is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Harbec; two brothers, William and Peter Wasylczuk. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 18, 2005 at 11 A.M. in the St. Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Church, , St. Basil's Avenue, Chesapeake City, MD. Family and friends may call Sunday evening April 17, 2005 from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. in the R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 318 George Street, Chesapeake City, MD and also on Monday morning April 18, 2005 after 10 A.M. Burial will be in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Chesapeake City, MD.
