Bonnie A. Bowman, 54, founded day care facility

Bonnie Armstead Bowman, who ran a day care business, died of pneumonia related to acute asthma April 7 at Union Memorial Hospital. The Ednor Gardens-Lakeside resident was 54.

Born Gwendolyn Bonnie Armstead in Baltimore and raised in Reservoir Hill, she was a 1970 graduate of Forest Park High School. After raising her family, she earned a social work degree with honors at Morgan State University in 1991.

She founded a day care business, Creative Learning, in her Lakeside Avenue home.

She enjoyed making gift baskets and floral arrangements.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at New Antioch Baptist Church of Randallstown, 5616 Old Court Road.

Survivors include her husband, Lee Bowman, a manager at Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.; two sons, Shawn Simms and Brian Armstead Bowman; her father, George Armstead; her mother, Evelyn Mae Armstead; and a brother, George Armstead, all of Baltimore; three sisters, Barbara Allen of Suffolk, Va., and Evelyn Armstead and Mary Armstead, both of Baltimore; and two grandchildren.
