Improv at church

The Baltimore Improv Group hams it up Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church. There is plenty of audience participation and troupe members have their own brand of smart (and not raunchy) humor. Expect your stomach to hurt from laughing.

Christ Lutheran Church is at 701 S. Charles St. The show is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $7. Visit www.bigimprov.org.

Yard Dogs Road Show

The Ottobar becomes a circus sideshow of sorts when the Yard Dogs Road Show rolls into town tonight. The traveling vaudeville act includes fire-eaters, a sword swallower, burlesque shows (with feathers) and hobo storytellers. The soundtrack will be provided by a band playing homemade instruments.

The Yard Dogs was featured in the recent book Freaks and Fire: The Underground Reinvention of Circus, by J. Dee Hill, who will be there to sign his book.

The Ottobar is 8549 N. Howard St. Call 410-662-0069 or visit www.theottobar.com. Doors open at 8 p.m. for this all-ages show. The acts start at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $10.

The Funk Box is at 10 E. Cross St. Tickets are $25 in advance. Doors open at 7 p.m. For more information, call 410-625-2000 or visit www.the funkbox.com.
