Tip of the week: A job that fits

Make sure it's to your "benefit" when seeking a new position.

It is important to consider many factors. Salary counts, but not as much as you would think. When evaluating a job offer, compensation is more than just a paycheck. Consider your values and priorities including: travel time; work hours; flexibility of schedule; family support programs/services; continuing education assistance/on-site training; work/leisure time balance; on-site fitness/wellness opportunities; a culture that fits you.

And of course, what you will be doing, how this fits into your current and future career goals.

And very important - whom you will be working with: You spend 40-plus hours at work each week, and these relationships are important. Make your priority list and then evaluate and prioritize all offers using this tool.

Choosing a job with the benefits that fit you best is key to both your career path and your job satisfaction.
