On April 5, 2005 OLIVE HYLTON YOUNG BROWN, age 93, widow of Thomas Mc Pherson Brown, M.D., of Arlington and Loudon County, VA, died at Pickersgill Retirement Center in Towson, MD. Born in Fernie, British Columbia, she was raised in Fernie and Canmore, Alberta; the daughter of Robert Mac Beath Young and Frances Ferguson Wilmot. She was predeceased by her brothers Alan and Donald Young and her sister Frances Williamson. After graduating from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, she completed an internship in dietetics, at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD., where she and Dr. Brown met. They married in 1937 and moved to the Washington, DC area, after WWII, when he took a position as Chief of Medicine at the VA Hospita L and then as Chairman of the Department of Medicine at George Washington University Hospital, from 1948-1970. He then opened and directed the Arthritis Institute of Northern Virginia, until his death in 1989. She remained his constant partner ands helpmate in all ways and in all endeavors, for the 52 years of their marriage. She is survived by her daughter, Gael Mc Pherson Brown Post, of Towson, MD and by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. on Saturday April 16 at the Goose Creek Friends Meeting in Lincoln, VA. Arrangements are through Hall Funeral Home in Purcellville, VA.
