Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Anne Arundel County.

Northern District

Arrest: In response to a call about drug activity, county police recovered a .25-caliber automatic handgun and 17 bags of suspected crack cocaine Wednesday at Cedar Hill Park in Glen Burnie.

Southern District

Burglary: A Lothian man discovered that $8,200 was stolen from a closet safe and pieces of jewelry, valued at nearly $1,000, were taken from his bedroom Monday. An investigation revealed that the burglary was likely performed by someone with knowledge of the home.

Theft: About $1,500 in purchases were charged to two credit cards stolen from a 42-year-old Chester woman April 2. Someone took her purse after breaking into her white Ford Expedition, which was parked next to a veterinary hospital where she works in Edgewater.

Industrial accident: A New Carrollton roofer was hospitalized Monday with an elbow injury after falling 25 to 30 feet from a roof in Annapolis. The victim, 19, who does not speak English, said through a coworker that he was trying to reattach a harness when he fell.


Arrest: City officers on drug patrol approached a man Tuesday in the area of College Creek Terrace. The man responded by striking one of the officers several times in the chest and once in the head. Erick James Griffin, 19, was arrested and charged with assault and possession of a loaded .32-caliber handgun. He was jailed on $3,000 bond.

Eastern District

Health emergency: County police responded March 28 to a Talbot County woman who was found unconscious and slumped over her desk at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold. Two people administered CPR before Annapolis fire crews took over and transported Sharyn A. Watts-Hall to Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Theft: Two actors reported credit cards and makeup stolen from personal items left in a locked room April 1 at Anne Arundel Community College while they were performing in the play Godspell. One reported that a makeup bag valued at $102 was taken. The other reported that between $300 and $500 in charges were made on stolen cards.

Western District

Arrest: County police stopped a gold-colored Mercury Sable on Tuesday in Severn and arrested four men on charges that included possession of open liquor containers. An officer stopped the vehicle after it had been traveling 51 mph in a 35-mph zone.

Robbery: Two men wearing ski masks entered Vince's Deli in Crofton on Tuesday from the back. One was armed with a pellet gun and the other with a baseball bat. They ordered the employees into the freezer, but one of the workers disarmed the robbers, who fled on foot. Police arrested Quinton Leri Gentry, 20, in connection with the robbery.-
