Series of events will celebrate the county's heroes this week

The county commissioners will celebrate National County Government Week tomorrow through Friday with events focusing on Honoring County Heroes.

Activities include:

Tomorrow: 10 a.m., recognition of Carroll County sheriff's Deputies William Gunnar Burdt and Jesse G. Clagett for brave actions March 11 during a shootout in Woodbine.

Tuesday: 10 a.m., unveiling of the Crime Victims Memorial Quilt and recognition of Detective Eric Helm of the Carroll County Advocacy and Investigation Center for his work in victim services.

Wednesday: 1:45 p.m., presentation of the 911 Center's Certificate of Excellence.

Thursday: 10 a.m., Recognition of Carroll Community College students whose academic success and overall potential earned them the Commissioners Scholarship during the 2004-05 school year.

At 11:30 a.m. Thursday, a luncheon to honor volunteers at Taneytown Senior Activities Center will be held.
