Vendors being sought for three farmer's markets

Starting in June and July, three farmer's markets in Carroll County will open for the season.

Vendors are wanted for the Carroll County Farmer's Market at the Carroll County Agriculture Center, Downtown Westminster Farmer's Market off Railroad Avenue and the Taneytown Main Street Farmer's Market.

Fruit and vegetable growers, honey producers, bakers, jam and jelly producers, flower growers and other items are welcome.

4-H Club members win awards at poultry show

Members of the Fine Feathered Friends 4-H Club recently participated in the Susquehanna Poultry Show at the Cecil County Community Center, winning several awards.

Lee Hahn received first- to fourth-place awards for his hens, first and second for his cocks, and second and third for his cockerels, along with several awards for breed.

David Welsh won first, reserve variety and reserve breed for his cockerel, and first for his hen in the Any Other Comb Clean Leg (a nonstandard variety) class and the "oddest" award for a cross-breed pullet.

Lee also earned third place and David a second place in showmanship.
