Chamber of Commerce announces April events

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce has announced this month's meetings.

The Connections After Hours networking opportunity and business card exchange will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. April 19 at the New Spider Web, a screen printing and embroidery company, 1100 Business Parkway South, Suite 4, Westminster. Reservations are required by Tuesday.

A Leadership Carroll Alumni luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. April 21 at Boulevard and Beyond, Route 140, Westminster. Bill Gavin, the chamber's legislative committee chair, and Kathleen Snyder, president of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, will discuss how the chambers' issues were addressed in the General Assembly. The cost is $20 for Leadership Carroll members or alumni, and $25 for others. Reservations are required by Thursday.

A networking breakfast will held be at 8 a.m. April 26 at Shelter Systems Ltd., 1025 Meadow Branch Road, Westminster. Mike McFeeley, author of Common Sense Management, will discuss getting the most out of employees in a changing world. The cost is $12. Reservations are required by April 19.

Workplace foundations to be topic of workshops

The Carroll County Business & Employment Resource Center will hold a human resources workshop series, "Tools for Building a Strong Workplace Foundation," starting April 22 at 224 N. Center St., Westminster.

The workshops will cover workplace issues that business professionals deal with on a daily basis, such as employee turnover, assessing job candidates' technical skills, and recruiting through the company's Web site.

Business experts will address topics specific to participants' business and employees. Human resource professionals also can network with others who share similar challenges and concerns.

Sessions will be held monthly from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Fridays. Programs are free, but registration is required.

CCC to sponsor seminar on expanding a business

Carroll Community College will hold a seminar, "Finding Fund$ to Grow Your Business," from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. April 26 in the Scott Center Theater at the 1601 Washington Road campus.

The seminar will showcase the new higher lending limits for Small Business Association-guaranteed loans of up to $4 million, explain SBA and other loan guarantee programs available to small businesses seeking to expand, explain the Carroll County Development Corp.'s loan guarantee program, and highlight the Miller Small Business Resource Center.
