@SUBHEDUnitarian Universalists to open preschool center

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia will open a preschool program, the Cradlerock Children's Center, in September at Owen Brown Interfaith Center.

Full- and part-time child care for infants to school-aged children and classes for preschoolers, ages 2 to 5, are planned.

The program's philosophy is based on Unitarian principles: respect for all people; peace, justice and compassion in human relations; and care for the environment.

Scholarships for 25 percent of the children and a partnership with the nearby Judy Center, which promotes school-readiness skills for children and their families, are planned.

The children's center will hold an open house for prospective families from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. April 17 at Owen Brown Interfaith Center, 7246 Cradlerock Way, Columbia.
