Jewish women's group plans Seder

The Annapolis Section of the National Council of Jewish Women will hold its third annual Women's Seder at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, at Congregation Kol Ami in Annapolis. Congregation Kol Ami is located at 1909 Hidden Meadow Lane.

Led by Rabbi Charni Selch of Kol Ami, the Seder will tell the Passover story from the perspective of the women of the Bible, exploring their backgrounds, stories and contributions to Jewish history.

Women need not be members of the National Council of Jewish Women, or affiliated with a synagogue or temple, to participate. Although there will not be a full Passover meal, participants will sample traditional Seder plate foods such as matzo charoset, hard-boiled eggs, gefilte fish, macaroons, and wine.

The cost is $18, $10 for ages 13 and under and $30 for families. Proceeds will benefit the Jewish Family Services Kosher Food Pantry. Information: 410-268-5801.

African Children's Choir to perform

The Grammy-nominated African Children's Choir will present a concert at 7 p.m. April 17, at Woods Memorial Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., Severna Park.

The choir, formed 16 years ago, has performed in concerts all over the world and supported thousands of African children, helping to provide for their physical, spiritual and educational needs. It is an interdenominational, registered non-profit charity.

It will perform a spirited program of song and dance featuring African tunes and ethnic instrumentation, along with children's songs and traditional spirituals. The concert is free. Information: 410-647-2550.

Advance directives workshop planned

Wesley Grove United Methodist Church will offer a workshop on "Advance Directives; Durable Power of Attorney and Living Will for Healthcare Papers" at 12:15 p.m. April 17, 1320 Dorsey Road, Hanover.

Alexis Southworth, a licensed social worker and church member, will direct the workshop to help people complete these important papers.

She will explain the forms and walk through them with everyone. The workshop will take place in the fellowship hall on the lower level of the church. Information: 410-761-9119.

Spring concert:

Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church adult choir will present a concert titled "Music from the Heart," at 8 p.m. tonight, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. in Severna Park. Traditional American spirituals along with contemporary selections will be featured. The concert is free and child care will be provided. 410-647-2550.

Art auction:

St. Philip Neri Parish and School will sponsor an art auction tomorrow at the Parish Center, 6405 S. Orchard Road, Linthicum. A preview party takes place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. featuring hot and cold hors d'oeuvres and specialty desserts. Ross Galleries will present a lively auction of affordable oils, watercolors, Disney memorabilia and estate jewelry. All artwork will be matted and framed. Church anniversary:

Word of Grace Family Church will celebrate its fourth anniversary 10:30 a.m. Sunday, 6730 Bay Meadow Drive, Glen Burnie. The program will feature music by Anthony Storing, food, games and prizes for kids. The church recently moved from Ordinance Road to its present location. 410-760-9673.

Spring meetings:

Anchor Baptist Church will present the Rev. Gary Bill as guest pastor for the spring evangelistic meetings, Sunday through Wednesday, 320 West Pasadena Road, Millersville. Family services:

Grace Baptist Church of Sunset Beach will sponsor a Family Fellowship and Praise service at 6 p.m. Sunday, 17 Somerset Road. This casual contemporary service will be followed by refreshments. Grace Baptist continues its Wednesday night weekly prayer service and Bible study that meets at 6:30 p.m.; "Team Kid" for boys and girls ages 5 to 12 meets at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday Night Bible Study meets at 7 p.m.; and "Team Teen" for ages 13 to 19 meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays. 410-255-5616.
