KATHRYN SHELOR (KATY) MCCOY, 19, of Roanoke, passed away unexpectedly on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005. She was born on December 15, 1985, in Richmond, Virginia. She was the daughter of Samuel Mc Coy of Roanoke and Cynthia Mc Coy of Arnold, Maryland, who survived her. Also surviving are her sister Kelly A. Mc Coy of Arnold, Maryland; her stepsister, Kristen A. Robinson of Roanoke; her stepmother, Karen A. Mc Coy; her grandmother Kitty MCCoy of Roanoke; an aunt and uncle Scott and Sue Mc Coy; cousins Michelle, Randy, Kristen and Josh Mc Coy of Roanoke, and Claire Slocum, New York; uncles Mike Slocum and wife Melissa of New York, John Slocum and wife Marina of Philadelphia; her grandmother Pat Slocum of Rochester, Mich. Katy will miss and be missed greatly by her friends. She was a 2004 Graduate of Cave Spring High School, and attended St. Pierre Academy in Salem. A Memorial Service was held at Rosalind Hills Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005. The Rev. Dr. Tom Stocks officiated. Katy was an organ donor through "Lifenet", and through this organization and her donation, many recipients benefited from her life, as well as those who loved her. Donations may be made in Katy's honor to the St. Pierre Academy, 15 N. College Ave., Salem, VA 24153 to allow another girl to attend this wonderful program. Also, Katy loved animals, so any donation to the Maryland SPCA would be perfect. Her service was beautiful, so any donations to the Rosalind Hills Baptist Church Building Fund at 2712 Brandon Ave., Roanoke, VA 24015 would be greatly appreciated.
