Wine Of The Week

April 06, 2005|By Michael Dresser

2003 The Crossings Pinot Noir, Marlborough ($20). This New Zealand red wine shows wonderfully pure, very Burgundian fruit. There's an intense blast of black-cherry and earth flavors, and the texture is silky and enticing. This is the last vintage of this wine that is bottled with a cork - a welcome change. Serve this wine with red meat, salmon, tuna or roast poultry. The versatility of a good pinot noir is amazing.
