Mount women roll past Sacred Heart, 12-4

Katie Mason scored four goals to lead Mount St. Mary's past Sacred Heart, 12-4, in a Northeast Conference women's lacrosse game yesterday.

Mason, the 2004 NEC Rookie of the Year, tied a career high for goals and had two assists to help the host Mountaineers (6-4, 3-0) win their fourth straight.

Jen Davison paced the defense by causing four turnovers and winning three draws.

The Pioneers fell to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

No. 17 Towson 14, Drexel 7: Shannon Witzel tied her career high with six goals as the host Tigers (7-3, 1-2 Colonial Athletic Association) used a second-half surge to defeat the visiting Dragons (7-2, 1-2).

Roanoke 12, Villa Julie 6: The Maroons (3-7) defeated the host Mustangs (1-6), who got 12 saves from sophomore goalie Nikki Miller.

Men

Salisbury 13, Gettysburg 7: The Sea Gulls (10-0) extended their winning streak to 39, outscoring the host Bullets (5-3) by 7-2 in the final 21 minutes of the second half to secure the win.

St. Mary's 16, York 5: Senior attackman Shane Baxter paced the Seahawks (6-5, 2-2 Capital Athletic Conference) with a game-high five goals in the victory over the host Spartans (2-6, 0-5).
