Braves vs. Marlins

Best Rivalry

National League East

April 03, 2005|By PETER SCHMUCK

Sure, the Mets and Phillies are a bigger draw, but what have they done for you lately? The Braves have reached the postseason - every year there has been a postseason - since 1991, and the Marlins have won two wild-card World Series titles in the past eight years.

It has reached the point where you have to keep picking the Braves until they prove you wrong. They acquired front-line starter Tim Hudson, moved John Smoltz back into the starting rotation and still have a quality lineup.

The Marlins lost starter Carl Pavano to free agency, but they added big-time slugger Carlos Delgado to a starting lineup that already featured up-and-coming superstar Miguel Cabrera. Should be interesting.
