CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The fourth-ranked Maryland men's lacrosse team dropped a 10- 2 decision to the third-ranked Virginia Cavaliers this afternoon Virginia jumped on top of the Terps 2-0 in the first few minutes of the game and could not recover. The Cavaliers led 5-0 at halftime.

Virginia extended its lead to 6-0 early in the third quarter, but All-America attackman Joe Walters got the Terps on the board at the 4:51 mark with his team leading 19th goal of the season.

Maryland tried to scrap its way back into the game and Xander Ritz scored his sixth goal of the season with 12:29 remaining in the fourth to trim the lead to 6-2. But that was as close as the Terps would get.

The Terps finish their two-game road swing next Friday, April 8, with a primetime showdown at No. 6 Navy. Face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
