REAL ESTATE WATCH

March 27, 2005

The Real Estate Brokers of Baltimore Inc., a minority trade association of real estate professionals, will present student scholarships and awards for community service, business achievement and promoting democracy in housing at its annual awards and scholarship banquet April 8.

The trade group, which represents predominantly minority real estate agents and brokers who call themselves Realtists, is a chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers, founded by African-Americans in 1947.

"We like to consider ourselves the watchdog of the industry to make sure things are still fair, not only for minority real estate professionals, but also for the community," said Deborah Curry, president of the Baltimore chapter, which was founded in 1948.

The banquet will be held at the Hyatt Regency Inner Harbor. For more information, call Curry at 443-277-1767.
