Wednesday's rain sets record at BWI for wettest day in March since 1871

March 25, 2005

Wednesday proved to be the wettest March day on record for Baltimore, according to the National Weather service.

The official rain gauge at Baltimore-Washington International Airport recorded 2.56 inches of rain between midnight and 6 p.m. That swamped the 2.48-inch drenching March 2, 1994.

Four of the five wettest March days since record-keeping began in Baltimore in 1871 have occurred since 1990. More rain is expected today and through the weekend.
