Marchman is responsible for assembling the bag. Taking recommendations from the company's various divisions, she tries to include old staples such as Old Bay and new products like Grill Mates seasonings. She started adding Zatarain's rice products to the bag after McCormick bought the New Orleans company in 2003 for $180 million.
Marchman said Lawless, the chief executive, is usually OK with her choices. Every now and then, he'll take out a spice that he thinks might be too intense for the palates of McCormick's retirees.
Said Marchman of the bags, "It's become a tradition."
What's in the bag?
Munchies Ultimate Cheddar Mix: McCormick furnishes several ingredients for Frito-Lay snacks.
Italian Herb Seasoning Grinder: McCormick makes everything from pizza grinders to this Italian herb grinder. A twist of the top grinds the blend of rosemary, garlic onion and other spices into fine pieces.
Neon Food Coloring and Egg Dye: New neon colors introduced in time for Easter.
Zatarain's New Orleans Style Red Beans & Rice: McCormick began adding this to the mix after it bought the maker of New Orleans-style packaged foods and spices.
Old Bay with Lemon & Herb Seasoning: A classic with a new twist. Gives shareholders a chance to see how the Old Bay line has expanded.
Bush's Best Maple Cured Bacon Baked Beans: It's not a spice, but McCormick flavors Bush's baked beans.
Gourmet Collection Ground Ginger: From McCormick's more upscale gourmet spice collection, ground ginger is also the scent of its annual report.
Grill Mates Hamburger and Barbecue seasonings: Two of the newer flavors in the Grill Mates line for outdoor cooking.
