An editorial March 8 may have implied that Jervis S. Finney, chief counsel to Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., is investigating not only former gubernatorial aide Joseph F. Steffen Jr.'s role in disseminating Internet rumors about Mayor Martin O'Malley's personal life but also Mr. Steffen's alleged inappropriate interference in state personnel matters. Mr. Finney says neither he nor anyone else in the administration is investigating Mr. Steffen's involvement in the firing of state employees, as they perceive no need to do so.
