Robert Glenn Bache Sr., 77, owner of auto repair shop

Robert Glenn Bache Sr., retired owner of a Southwest Baltimore auto repair shop, died of a brain tumor March 15 at his home in the Phoenix section of Baltimore County. He was 77.

Mr. Bache was born in Madison County, Va., and spent his early years in Culpeper, Va. At 14, he moved with his family to Southwest Baltimore and attended city public schools.

He worked as an electrician and mechanic before establishing Glenn's Auto Towing Inc. in 1977 at Carey and Ramsay streets in Southwest Baltimore. He retired in 2000 from the business, which is now owned and operated by his son, Robert Glenn Bache Jr. of Severna Park.

Mr. Bache and his wife of 54 years, the former Dorothea O'Brien, enjoyed traveling by motorcycle and attending stock car races in the area.

Services were held Saturday with burial at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. "Five green tow trucks from his company escorted his hearse to the cemetery," Mrs. Bache said.

Survivors also include four daughters, Darlene A. Stone of Gettysburg, Pa., Mary Karen Winger of Phoenix, Baltimore County, Lorie L. Boliek of White Hall and Wendy C. Hartman of York, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
