Player of the Year

Mercedes Robinson, St. Paul's

The 6-foot center did not have a bad game as she led the No. 6 Gators from a runner-up finish in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference last season to the A Conference semifinals.

A dominant inside player with the ball-handling and perimeter-shooting skills of a guard, the senior led the Gators in scoring (15.6 points per game) and rebounding (13.1). Robinson, who is bound for Davidson, became the first player in school history to reach 1,000 points, finishing with 1,062.

Coach of the Year

DeToiya McAliley, Milford Mill

In her first season as head coach, McAliley guided the Millers to their first state championship and their first No. 1 ranking.

In the regional final, the Millers avenged a one-point, regular-season loss to then-No. 5 Western as well as the loss to the Doves in last season's regional title game. They went on to upset unbeaten and No. 1 River Hill in the state Class 3A semifinals before defeating Paint Branch for the crown.
