Today's game

Philadelphia Regional, first round

No. 7 seed Maryland (21-9) vs. No. 10 seed Wis.-Green Bay (27-3)

Site: Comcast Center, College Park

Time: 2:30 p.m.

TV: ESPN

Key matchup: Both teams rely on their point guards to set the tone, and the Terps' Anesia Smith and Wisconsin-Green Bay's Abby Scharlow will shadow each other in attempt to disrupt their opponents' flow. Smith, who averages 5.7 points a game, is not an offensive threat, but her 204 assists rank third among assists in a single season. Scharlow can score (13.2 points a game), rebound (5.2) and assist (5.1).

Outlook: This is the first meeting for both teams, and both have something to prove. Still simmering over earning a low seed and playing in Maryland's back yard, the Phoenix could use a victory to taunt the selection committee's decision-making. The Terps need a win to erase a 30-point loss to Duke in their last game and earn a second-round appearance for the second straight year. - Edward Lee
