Tonight's game

Tempe Regional, first round

No. 16 seed Coppin State (23-7) vs. No. 1 seed North Carolina (27-3)

Site: Smith Center, Chapel Hill, N.C.

Time: 7

TV: ESPN2

Key matchup: The flow of this game will probably revolve around the respective point guards, senior Denita Plain of Coppin and sophomore Ivory Latta of North Carolina. All-ACC Latta runs a devastating fast break and the Lady Eagles must restrict her effectiveness to have a chance. Plain, who is in her fifth year, is the hub of the team, but she will have to depend on some help from teammates. As much as possible, Coppin will try to keep the ball out of Latta's hands.

Outlook: In their first NCAA Division I tourney appearance, the Lady Eagles face a monumental task against North Carolina at a building where it occasionally plays. If they can stay close early and keep the Tar Heels' offense on the perimeter, they may gain the confidence to remain competitive. Keeping the crowd quiet is another Coppin objective.
