Groundbreaking Wednesday

County Executive James N. Robey and officials of the Department of Citizen Services' Office on Aging will break ground on a new Glenwood Community Center at 11 a.m. Wednesday at 2400 Route 97, adjacent to the Glenwood library.

The center, which will be in Western Regional Park, will include activity rooms and classrooms for fine arts and crafts, continuing education, computer training, dance, exercise and meetings.

Also planned are a gymnasium with a three-lane jogging and walking track, basketball and volleyball courts, fitness rooms, lockers and showers.

Candidates are sought in River Hill village

Nomination petitions are available at Claret Hall for seats on the River Hill Community Association's board of directors and the village's Columbia Council representative.

Four seats are available on the village board. Interested residents should contact the village manager.

Petitions must be submitted by 9 p.m. tomorrow. Village elections will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 30.

K of C is sponsoring blood drive at firehouse

The Knights of Columbus of St. Louis Church will sponsor a blood drive from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Clarksville firehouse.
