NIT first round

Oral Roberts (25-7) at Maryland (16-12)

Site: Comcast Center, College Park

Time: 9

Oral Roberts' top players: F Caleb Green, sophomore (19.3 ppg., 9.3 rpg.); G-F Larry Owens, junior (9.2 ppg., 7.5 rpg.); G Luke Spencer-Gardner, senior (9.5 ppg., 3.9 apg.); G Ken Tutt, sophomore (17.0 ppg., 2.4 apg.).

Outlook: Will the Terps, who haven't been in the NIT since 1990, play like a team that wants to save some face or one that wants the season to end? Gary Williams' team has lost four straight. Oral Roberts, coached by Scott Sutton, the son of Oklahoma State coach Eddie Sutton, is not an opponent to be taken lightly. The Golden Eagles have the most wins of any team in the NIT and they beat Georgetown by 18 earlier this season and lost by one at Indiana. Oral Roberts came up just short of winning the Mid-Continent Conference tournament and its automatic NCAA bid as Oakland's Pierre Dukes hit a three-pointer with 1.3 seconds left to deny the Golden Eagles.
