What's the point?: You know how most phone numbers mentioned on TV shows and movies have 555 as the exchange? That's because that exchange isn't real, so as not to disrupt real people with calls from folks who decide to dial the numbers they hear or see on TV. A ways back, Tommy Tutone had a hit called "867-5309" about a guy trying to reach someone named Jenny. The owner of this site has taken it upon himself to check 867-5309 in every U.S. area code and document what happens.

What to look for: There are a lot of instances of "Cannot be completed as dialed," but more references to "Jenny" on people's voice mail than you might expect.
