Bobby Griebe scored three goals as the No. 11 Towson men's lacrosse team (3-0) defeated host Denver, 10-8, in the final game of the 2005 Pioneer Face-Off Classic yesterday.

The Pioneers (1-2) outshot the Tigers 37-36 and held a 39-32 advantage in ground balls, but Reed Sothoron made 13 saves to help clinch the win.

Salisbury 18, Ohio Wesleyan 7: Dan Boyer and Mac Chase combined for seven goals to lead the host Sea Gulls over the Battling Bishop (0-2).

The Sea Gulls (5-0) had a 10-0 run over a span of 16:48 of the second and third periods.

Women

No. 8 North Carolina 12, Mount St. Mary's 5: Kelly Renzi scored four goals to lift the Tar Heels (3-0) over the host Mount (0-2).

Hofstra 9, No. 9 Loyola 8: Junior midfielder Becky Thorn scored the game-winner with 12 seconds remaining as the Pride improved to 3-0. The Greyhounds fell to 1-2.

No. 4 Duke 18, Richmond 6: Katie Chrest, Leigh Jester, Rachel Sanford and Kristen Waagbo all scored hat tricks for the host Blue Devils (5-0) in the win against the Spiders (0-2).

No. 5 Georgetown 10, Stanford 6: The Hoyas (2-0) came back from a 5-2 halftime deficit to defeat the host Cardinal (3-2) in the East/West Challenge.
