Bowie State falls in CIAA quarters, 61-59

Donell Williams scored 22 points and the Fayetteville State men's basketball team never trailed as the Broncos upset Bowie State, 61-59, in the quarterfinals of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament last night at the RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C.

Letheal Cook (24 points) brought the Bulldogs (24-4) within 49-48 with 5:40 left and 53-51 with 1:34 left, but they could get no closer.

The Broncos outscored Bowie State 23-12 off turnovers and 32-22 in the paint.

The game's only tie at 2-2 came off a layup by Bowie's Attila Cosby with 18:45 left in the first half.

Fayetteville State shot 39.4 percent from the field to take a 29-24 lead at the half.
