A note to readers

February 25, 2005

Next Sunday, The Sun will unveil important changes in the way we cover news of Anne Arundel County and the region.

We will be publishing a new Anne Arundel section, with a new look, many new features and a new emphasis on community news.

The intensely local section will include:

Feature stories about people, places and events in the county, written and illustrated by our award-winning writers and photographers.

A weekly look at Anne Arundel County's rich history.

A column for federal workers.

"On the Water" for sailing, boating and fishing enthusiasts.

A compendium of opinions from readers on an issue in the news, called Speak Out!

Redesigned, easier-to-read events calendars to help you plan your week.

A page each week devoted exclusively to local education news, as well as another devoted to local high school sports.

Familiar features, such as Arundel Live, will continue to provide comprehensive coverage of entertainment events.

The new, very local section will appear in The Sun each Sunday, Wednesday and Friday. Currently, readers receive a mix of local, regional and state news in an Anne Arundel section published six days a week.

The Sun remains committed to providing the best coverage of Anne Arundel County seven days a week. The Maryland section, which, beginning Sunday, Arundel readers will receive each day, has been redesigned to provide more breaking news from the county and elsewhere in the state.

The Maryland section will also include new features, such as a weekly traffic map to help commuters avoid trouble spots, and, each Monday, a Maryland Journal featuring colorful scenes and stories from around the state.
