LEGAL AND INSURANCE

Ober / Kaler hired Kelly J. Davidson, William T. Mathias, Kevin M. Robertson, Anthony F. Vittoria and Sherri M. Miller as associates in the national law firm's Baltimore headquarters. Michael L. Jennings also joined the business group of the firm's Baltimore office.

Whiteford, Taylor & Preston announced that John B. Gontrum, real estate and land use, Gary W. Kuc, medical malpractice, Dino C. LaFiandra, real estate and land use, Frank J. Mastro, business litigation, and Gregory M. Stone, technology and intellectual property, were elected as partners in the Baltimore-based regional law firm.

Hodes, Ulman, Pessin & Katz hired Maurice A. Bellan to the Columbia office of the Towson-based law firm.

Chesapeake Habitat for Humanity named Anirban Basu, Amy Bonitz, James Dougherty, G. Scott Lang, Julie Rogers, Elvira Smith and Christine Stutz to its board of directors.

HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM

HMSHost Corp. appointed Elie W. Maalouf, Les Cappetta and Chuck Powers executive vice presidents of the Bethesda-headquartered hospitality company.

Clarion Hotel & Conference Center Antietam Creek in Hagerstown appointed Bonnie Waltman as director of group sales, Helen Arthur as associate director of sales, and Paul McCook as director of food and beverage.

COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE

NAI KLNB Management, an asset and property management company serving companies throughout the Baltimore- Washington area, as well as Memphis, Tenn., appointed Nicole H. Gravius as a lease administrator, John E. O'Donnell Jr. as a building engineer, Nichol Robicheaux as an accounting clerk and Rhonda Smith as administrative assistant.

William D. Smith, president of Parsons Brinckerhoff Quade & Douglas Inc. in New York, was awarded the Black Engineer of the Year Award during the group's conference at the Baltimore Convention Center last week. Russell T. Wright, chairman and chief executive officer of Dimensions International Inc. in Virginia, was named Entrepreneur of the Year.

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage appointed Ross Mackesey as vice president of the New Homes Division.

PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

Whitney, Bailey, Cox & Magnani LLC announced these appointments: Mark Shafer, Class B partner; Joseph O'Neil, senior vice president; Gene Merkel, Todd Lang, Chris Calaf, Jim Prosser and Lyle Aaby as vice presidents for the Towson-based architectural, design and engineering company.

BANKING AND FINANCE

Columbia Bank named Sandra Crowley as vice president, regulatory compliance, and Darryl L. Becker to vice president of its commercial banking division.

SunTrust Bank, Maryland said Lucretia Freeman-Buster has joined the company as a business banking officer. Freeman-Buster will serve small-business clients in the Annapolis area.

The public accounting and business consulting firm of Sturn Wagner Lombardo & Company LLC said Ronald D. Rudich has joined the firm as director of its business valuation department.

HEALTH CARE

St. Joseph Medical Center said Dr. Richard Boehler was appointed vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer for the Towson regional medical facility.

IMAKE appointed Joseph Dellinger as vice president of sales for the Bethesda-based provider of digital media software and services for cable and telecommunications companies.

Rooftop Communications LLC added Colleen Stanley and graphic designer Steve Preis to the Canton-based agency's staff.

Warschawski, a Baltimore public relations, marketing and branding agency, promoted Amy Christopher to senior vice president.
