SUV collides with minivan, injuring six people near Bel Air

A sport utility vehicle collided head-on with a minivan early yesterday on Route 543 near Bel Air, sending a Bel Air man and a Connecticut family of five to area hospitals with serious injuries, state police said.

The 8 a.m. accident occurred after a man, 26, fell asleep at the wheel of a northbound Chevrolet Blazer, police said.

The Blazer skidded over the yellow line and struck a Ford Windstar carrying a Connecticut couple and their three boys, police said. A Nissan Sentra then rear-ended the Windstar, police said.
