Weems Creek Bridge to close weeknights

The Weems Creek Bridge leading into Annapolis will be closed weeknights between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. starting Wednesday, state highway officials announced last week.

The closures are expected to last about a month as contractors set steel for the new bridge, scheduled to be complete by fall 2006.

The work is part of a $33 million project to rehabilitate the 50-year-old bridges over Weems and College creeks. Both bridges are part of Rowe Boulevard, the main artery into downtown Annapolis.
