George Mason hands Towson 68-45 setback

George Mason women's basketball team - led by Jen Daniels with 17 points - shot over 50 percent from the field in both halves to defeat Towson, 68-45, last night in Fairfax, Va.

Alis Freeman (17 points) went 0-for-4 to set a school record for free-throw attempts in a season (191) for the Tigers (13-12, 6-8 Colonial Athletic Association), who have lost four of their past five.

Moni Akintunde had her third double double of the season (12 points, 10 rebounds) for the Patriots (10-13, 6-8).

Mary Baldwin 75, College of Notre Dame 48: The visiting Squirrels (11-13, 8-3 Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference) had four players in double figures to beat the Gators (9-15, 7-5).

Mary Baldwin's Katrina Scruggs led all scorers with 20. Catherine Vecchioni (Perry Hall) had her sixth double double (14 points, 17 rebounds) in eight games for Notre Dame.
