Autopsies ordered in what may be murder-suicide

Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting deaths of a man and woman whose bodies were found in her Callaway-Garrison home yesterday morning in what appeared to be a murder-suicide, Baltimore police said.

Information about the two was being withheld pending notification of family members, said Detective Donny Moses, a police spokesman.

About 11 a.m. yesterday, a relative of the woman entered the house in the 3700 block of Belle Ave. and called police upon finding the bodies in a room, Moses said.

Each had been shot in the head, and they were pronounced dead at the scene by a city Fire Department ambulance crew, Moses said.

Autopsies by the state medical examiner's office were to determine whether the deaths resulted from a murder and suicide, as suspected by detectives, Moses said.

The spokesman said the woman was in her early 20s, but that no information concerning the man was available. Information about their relationship was not being released, Moses said.

Neighbors contacted in the 3700 block of Belle Ave. said they knew little about them.

"I've lived here for 44 years and this is the first time anything so tragic has happened on the street," said Ruby Carr, who lives across the street.
