Sylvia O. Okolo, 26, computer analyst

Sylvia O. Okolo, a help desk computer analyst and Bolton Hill resident, died Feb. 1 of complications from surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She was 26.

Miss Okolo was born and raised in Enugu, Nigeria, where she graduated from high school.

Miss Okolo visited Baltimore briefly in 1997, then attended Northeastern University in Chicago and York College in York, Pa. In 2003, she earned a bachelor's degree in information technology and science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Since 2002, she had been employed in the Woodlawn branch of Provident Bank as a help desk computer analyst.

She was a movie buff, and also enjoyed yoga and dancing.

"She also liked collecting shot glasses from all over the world. She didn't really drink and only occasionally enjoyed a glass of wine," said a brother, Dr. Patrick I. Okolo, a Baltimore gastroenterologist.

Miss Okolo was a communicant of St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 740 N. Calvert St., where a Mass of Christian burial will be offered at noon Friday.

In addition to her brother, she is survived by her mother, another brother and three sisters, all of Africa, and many nieces and nephews.
