Timothy Leonard Klein, 81, Bethlehem Steel employee

Timothy Leonard Klein, a retired Bethlehem Steel Corp. employee and World War II veteran, died from complications of diabetes Friday at his Rosedale home. He was 81.

Mr. Klein, who was born in Baltimore and raised on South Streeper Street, attended city public schools.

During the war, he enlisted in the Army and served with a chemical warfare unit in the Italian campaign. After his 1946 discharge, he went to work at Sparrows Point in Bethlehem's pipe mill. He retired in 1976.

He was an avid Oriole fan and flower fancier.

Mr. Klein was a member of the Roman Catholic Church of the Annunciation, 5212 McCormick Ave., where a Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. today.

Mr. Klein is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Marie A. Suchy; a son, Timothy R. Klein of New Freedom, Pa.; a daughter, Marian R. Klein of Nottingham, Baltimore County; a sister, Marie Andrzejewski of Odenton; and three grandchildren.
