Noise from detonations should be expected in area

Aberdeen Proving Ground plans to conduct two large detonations that are likely to be heard outside the installation, Army officials said last week.

The detonations are scheduled to occur Thursday or Friday.

Experimental aircraft group reschedules field trip

The Experimental Aircraft Association has rescheduled its field trip to the Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum at Dulles International Airport for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 19.

The bus will depart from the Harford County Airport at Aldino.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for those younger than 19. Tickets must be purchased in advance. For tickets, call May Haskell at 410-272-6172 or Dennis Sullivan at 410-676-8177.

Libraries to open at 1 p.m. Thursday

All branches of Harford County Public Library will open at 1 p.m. Thursday to accommodate the conversion to a new computer system.

Volunteers sought for Bel Air Book Festival

This year's Bel Air Book Festival has been scheduled for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 9 in Shamrock Park, organizers have announced.

Organizers are seeking sponsors, volunteers and participants from the community for the festival.
