Harford authorities seek to extradite man for questioning in cab driver's death

The Harford County Sheriff's Office wants a man in New York to be extradited to Maryland for questioning in the fatal shooting of a taxi driver.

Rashawn Smith, 19, of Aberdeen is jailed in New York on unrelated charges, a sheriff's spokesman said last night.

He is wanted for questioning in the fatal shooting of Derald Howard Guess, who was killed Dec. 8 in Edgewood. Two men have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the killing of the father of nine.

Smith also faces an attempted-murder charge in an arrest warrant issued by Aberdeen police in connection with a separate incident, the spokesman said.
