E.B. Schoenfelder, 74, receptionist, secretary

E. Berkeley Schoenfelder, a retirement community receptionist and Frederick resident, died of pulmonary failure Jan. 29 at Washington Hospital Center. She was 74.

Evelyn Berkeley Ludwig was born in Baltimore and raised in Baltimore Highlands. She was a 1948 graduate of Catonsville High School.

For more than 20 years, Mrs. Schoenfelder worked as an operating room receptionist and later secretary at what is now St. Agnes HealthCare in Southwest Baltimore. For the past 12 years, she had been a receptionist at Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville.

She lived for 30 years in Ellicott City, where she attended First Presbyterian Church of Howard County. Since 1999, she had lived in Frederick.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 12 at Charlestown Retirement Community, 713 Maiden Choice Lane.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Edwin A. Schoenfelder, retired owner of Columbia Furniture Co; three sons, Mark S. Schoenfelder of Mount Airy, Reid W. Schoenfelder of Ellicott City and Robert A. Schoenfelder of Catonsville; a daughter, Berkeley A. Conner of Mount Airy; a sister, Mildred Lipscomb of Linthicum; and eight grandchildren.
