Caroline B. Shawkey, a homemaker and doll collector, died of heart failure Monday at her Glen Burnie home. She was 74.

She was born and raised Caroline Beatrice Libby in Biddeford, Maine, where she graduated from high school. She moved to Baltimore in 1947 and worked for several years at the Calvert Distillery in Relay.

She was married in 1950 to Billy Robert Shawkey Sr., a retired driver for Red Star Trucking Co.

Mrs. Shawkey enjoyed collecting dolls, which she displayed in the Glen Burnie home where she had lived since 1965.

"She also enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and neighborhood kids," said a son, Brian M. Shawkey of Reisterstown.

Mrs. Shawkey was a member of Granite Baptist Church.

Services were Thursday.

In addition to her husband and son, Mrs. Shawkey is survived by three other sons, Billy Robert Shawkey Jr. of Glen Burnie, Barry S. Shawkey of Pasadena and Mark L. Shawkey of Annapolis; a daughter, Nancy Cheplowitz of Severn; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
