Train enthusiasts should make their way to the DelMarVa Model Railroad Club's Open House this weekend in Delmar, Del. More than 6,000 square feet of operating model railroads will be on display, including N-scales, N-track modules, HO layouts, O-gauge tinplates, O-scale Lionel models and G-gauge models. There will also be train videos, items for sale, raffles and refreshments.

The railroad open house runs 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday at the DelMarVa Model Railroad Club, 103 E. State St., Delmar, Del. Free. Call 410-742-9325.

All about pandas

Learn about pandas at a lecture tonight at the National Zoo in Washington. The talk, "Conserving Giant Pandas in China: Challenges and Rewards," explores the contribution of the National Zoo's scientists to the study of giant pandas. Zoo senior scientist David Wildt discusses research and training programs as well as efforts of the zoo to protect the pandas in China.
