Loyola falls despite Troupe double double

Despite three players in double figures and a double double by Lauren Troupe, the Loyola women's basketball team was unable to get by Long Island University, losing, 71-65, last night at Reitz Arena.

Loyola (2-8) led for the first six minutes before LIU (5-4) went on a 7-0 run to take a 15-10 lead.

Troupe led with her second career double double, scoring 15 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Katie Scherle added a season- and game-tying high of 16 points in addition to eight rebounds. Krystle Harrington scored 13 points, seven assists and seven steals. Ebony Toliver added eight points and five rebounds in her first career start.

Air Force 72, Navy 62: Host Air Force closed the first half on an 8-3 run and began the second half on an 11-2 run on its way to the win.

The loss dropped Navy to 4-6, while the Falcons improved to 4-7.

Delaware State 53, Mount St. Mary's 40: Raquel Collier scored 16 points to lead the Hornets (3-5) past the Mount in the St. Peter's Classic.

Dita Krumberga paced the Mount (1-9) with 14 points and Tiffany Green added 10 points in the loss.

McDaniel 70, Susquehanna 52: The Green Terror (7-2) won its 15th straight game at the Gill Center.

Sara Franz scored 13 points for McDaniel, hitting three of four from three-point range. She had six assists and five steals.

Temple 77, UMES 53: Cansice Dupree had 27 points as host Temple rolled past the Lady Hawks (2-8).

Temple improved to 7-3.

Coppin State 60, Jackson State 47: Leisel Harry had a game-high 15 points to lead the Eagles (8-3) over Jackson State (2-7) in the championship game of the Coca-Cola Classic in Mobile, Ala.
